For the final two years of Galoob production, the Military series was continued with more collections added each year to the line. Single-vehicle packs continued in 1997 and 1998. In 1997, the Defenders brand was released in Spain with dramatically different card coloring.

1997 Military Collections
For 1997, 23 collections were released. Packaging variations for Italy and France/Germany/Benelux are shown below. Single-packs are known from Italy for this series. Action packs were continued for 1997 with 2 different releases. The Defenders line from Spain was released in 1997 and continued on into 1998.

1998 Military Collections
24 Military collections were released in 1998, and many of these are considered exceptionally difficult to find. 2 Action Packs were released and matching Canadian versions are shown below. French/German/Benelux collections were released for IDEAL including single-vehicle packs. Spanish Defenders sets were released in 1998 as well including single-vehicle packs too. Four packs of large-size collections were released this year in Micro Machines branding, but only in Italy and Spain (Defenders). The vehicles lack the miniature detail and quality Micro Machines were known for, so these are an unfortunate addition to the series.
