A Micro Machines Collection Foreword
Welcome Collectors!
This website was a long time in the making and is still a work in progress. Countless hours have gone into website building and taking pictures of the collection shown here. It is my hope that established and new collectors will find it both valuable to build from and a learning tool. I collect sealed primarily since I like the guarantee of originality/authenticity and mint examples of vehicles, however, I also collect loose vehicles as gap fill too. This allows me to include the countless unknown origin vehicles that have surfaced over the years. I've attempted to acquire all I could to establish a record of sorts since knowledge is key in any hobby. Competition with other collectors has made this difficult at times of course, and with major interest exploding in the hobby, it will only get harder. (Seriously, did you know the hobby has increased from around 50-100 collectors to thousands in only a few short years?!) This will make it essentially impossible to create a full record for anyone, but as collectors browse what is shown here, I feel my effort was solid specifically for production/released vehicles. My collection is by no means complete, however nearly all of the Micro Machines production vehicles known are shown excluding Z-Bots, Star Wars, and Action Fleet since those are outside my general interest area. I promise the upcoming loose vehicles to upload will be incredible to see including many unreleased prototypes and decos, and I feel it will provide a strong continuity in the areas lacking solid detail/information. I look forward to sharing these items soon as I work through them.
New finds surface daily and are discussed in the Facebook groups regularly. I recommend the largest groups and am an admin of the well established Official Micro Machines Collectors group. As I am still an active collector, I am taking a risk in sharing this information since many have taken advantage of shared information in the past. However, since I can't hold onto my collection forever, getting the knowledge base up is a necessity in order to one day let it go for a price I am comfortable with. Please be aware that many of the rarities shown here are directly from ex-employees of Galoob and Hasbro - some of whom I have known for many years. I will be sharing more detail on this later, but for now, enjoy what is shown and be aware that more is in the works. Keep in mind, I am humbled in my collection by what I've seen in others. So just when you thought this was a lot, there is far more out there... I do feel my collection provides a bit of uniqueness though in its coverage of all years of release and themes. That gives me a bit of solace and drive to keep on searching and build the record.
One Last Note: The collection here is based on year and theme. It is my hope that collectors will use the information provided to build a database one day fully linking the loose vehicles with the sealed collection details. If you are planning on taking this project on, please share your progress in the FB discussion groups so I and other admins can assist. Someone out there will make it happen. It's really the next step in the evolution of the hobby.
