Playsets 2002 - 2004
Hasbro styles are starkly different from Galoob and this is evidenced by the playsets released. While many are very eye-appealing, there are a few others that seem rushed and/or lower quality. Since Micro Machines were not generally released in the USA in 2002 and 2004, there is a regional component to the sets shown meaning production numbers can be wildly different. As a result, some playsets are much more challenging to find than others.

2002 Playsets
The only playset from 2002 released in the USA was the Tomorrowland Speedway, but was only sold in Disney theme parks. As a result, it can be very difficult to find. The other playsets are tough to find as well considering their regional-only release. The 2002 Super Stunt City is incredibly rare and is the first release of the glow-in-the-dark vehicles sought after by collectors.

2003 Playsets
With Micro Machines being released in the USA in 2003, and a strong push to reinvigorate the brand by Hasbro, a large variety of playsets were available. Some of the playsets had different names based on the region of release, but the contents were the same. As with other Hasbro years, many of the vehicles are unique to the playset. Some playsets were not released in the USA such as Turbo Twister Rescue, so rarity varies between those shown below. The spring promotional Easter egg is incredibly rare with only 2 known.

2004 Playsets
Some really well done playsets were sold in 2004, but regional only and not in the USA. The Power Racing Magnetics playset is thought to have also been released in 2005, but with different packaging. This would correlate with the 2 vehicle collections offered in 2004/2005 with magnets meant for use with this playset. (The loose vehicles inluded in this playset are shown below as well as a variant and error.) The Rippin' Raceway and Mountain Challenge playsets are rare sealed, but sometimes show up loose in the UK and Europe. The Italian collections for Carabinieri below were only available in Italy and can be a serious challenge to find sealed. The 3 vehicles included with the large semi truck playset included both the repeated-release 2001 glow-in-the-dark Corvette and 2002 #10 car, but also the unique Thunderbird which is highly desireable by collectors. It was meant to be used with the launcher vehicle which is also unique.
